After a fire at the beginning of the 18th century, the church was rebuilt by the notable Czech architect Jan Blažej Santini. The entire tour is wheelchair accessible and suitable for visitors with limited mobility. Don’t forget to visit our Visitor Centre.

What might the apartment of the abbot of the Želiv monastery have looked like at the beginning of the 20th century?
In the renovated building of the Old Prelatura, you will have the opportunity to visit nine rooms where rare objects are often exhibited for the first time. These items surrounded the monastery’s leaders of that time: paintings and graphics, furniture, books, everyday equipment, as well as liturgical clothing and jewelry. On the ground floor, a new exhibition introduces key archaeological discoveries made in the monastery area and its immediate surroundings.
